BAUCHI STATE UNIVERSITY GADAU OR SAZUG ON FIRE INCIDENT?

The Vice Chancellor of Sa'adu Zungur University, Professor Fatimah Tahir, has expressed deep sympathy to the families of Dr. Hamma Mohammed, Faculty of Education, Malam Bello Adamu Yakubu of Physiology Department and Malam Mukhtar Mansur, Faculty of Arts, whose residence in the Senior Staff Quarters at Main Campus Gadau, was ravaged by fire Yesterday Saturday 26th April, 2025.

The fire incident, which occurred around 2:00pm, resulted in the loss of personal belongings and properties, but fortunately, no lives were lost and no physical injuries were sustained.

On behalf of the university community, Professor Fatimah Tahir prays that the affected families find strength and resilience to overcome this loss. The university management is committed to providing support and assistance to those affected.

The university appreciates the prompt response of security and fire service from Azare, which ensured that the situation was brought under control without any loss of life or injury.

-Beach State University, Gadau (BSUG), now known as Sa'adu Zungur University Gadau (SAZUG), was established in (2011). The university was created to meet the growing demand for higher education in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.

Origins and Establishment

The idea for the university began in 2007, when the then Governor (Ahmad Adamu Muazu) set up a Planning and Implementation Committee. 

In (2008), Governor (Isa Yuguda) revived the effort, leading to the formation of another committee in (2009)to finalize the university's development. The Bauchi State House of Assembly passed the law establishing the university, which was approved by Governor Yuguda on December 31, 2010.

-Campuses and Faculties:

BSUG operates a multi-campus system, with its 

-main campus in Gadau, and additional campuses in -Misau and Bauchi. The university offers a wide range of faculties, including:

- Gadau Campus: Arts, Education, Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Science.

- Misau Campus: Faculty of Law.

Challenges and Development:

One of the major challenges faced by the university is funding, as grants from the state and local governments are often insufficient.
