A 38-year-old man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman who was allegedly drugged and abused by her husband over a period of more than 20 years in Greater Manchester, England.

Sean Peers, from Stockport, admitted one count of assault by penetration relating to an incident on 15 September 2024 at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.

The case forms part of a wider criminal investigation involving allegations that the woman's husband drugged and raped her without her knowledge and invited other men to abuse her at their family home.

The woman's husband, whose identity is being withheld to protect his wife's legal right to anonymity, has already admitted numerous offences against her.

Husband Admits Further Offences

The husband has previously pleaded guilty to 60 offences against his wife. He has also admitted an additional charge of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to incidents that occurred during the previous summer, according to the report.

He is no longer part of the ongoing trial involving the other defendants and remains in custody pending sentencing.

The court is expected to consider sentencing for both the husband and Peers after the proceedings involving the remaining defendants have concluded.

Another Defendant Has Also Pleaded Guilty

Keith Fotheringham, 59, from Dundee, Scotland, has also pleaded guilty to various offences connected with the case.

Meanwhile, 11 other men have denied allegations relating to the alleged abuse of the woman between 2018 and November 2025. They are expected to face trial.

The allegations against those defendants remain before the court, and they must be treated as innocent unless and until they are proven guilty.

Court Proceedings Face Delays

A jury was sworn in early in September, but the proceedings have experienced several delays for legal and practical reasons.

During a recent hearing, Judge Maurice Greene informed the jury that the woman's husband had provided a witness statement detailing his account of events following his guilty pleas.

The statement, which reportedly contains extensive information and supporting documents, has been disclosed to defence lawyers for examination.

The judge explained that legal teams were still reviewing the material.

The jury was instructed to return on Monday, 19 October, when the prosecution case against the 11 remaining defendants was scheduled to begin.

Who Are the Remaining Defendants?

According to the court report, the 11 men who have denied the allegations are:

Philip Wild, 58, from Stockport.

Jordan Wallace, 31, from Manchester.

Alan Keelan, 42, from Manchester.

Jonathan Kirk, 43, from Stockport.

Robert Stewart, 70, from Stockport.

Mohammed Sabir, 28, of no fixed abode.

Graham Brougham, 74, from Northwich, Cheshire.

Richard Townsend, 37, from Rochdale.

Karl Lindsay, 55, from Taunton, Somerset.

Daniel Rayner, 42, from Whitstable, Kent.

David Graves, 59, from Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

The charges against these defendants have not been resolved. Their positions will be determined through the court process.

Protecting the Victim's Identity

The woman's identity remains protected under legal provisions intended to preserve the anonymity of victims of sexual offences.

Such protections are important in enabling victims to seek justice while reducing the risk of unwanted exposure.

The case has also drawn attention to the importance of investigating allegations of sexual violence, protecting victims and ensuring that criminal proceedings follow due process.

Conclusion

The case in Greater Manchester involves multiple defendants and allegations of prolonged sexual abuse.

Sean Peers and Keith Fotheringham have pleaded guilty to offences connected with the case, while the woman's husband has admitted numerous offences against her.

Eleven other men have denied the allegations and are expected to face trial.

The proceedings are continuing, with sentencing for those who have pleaded guilty expected after the remaining trial concludes.
